Issued: Aug 19, 2013 10:00 am HST

For the central north Pacific, between 140°W and 180.

1. The first visible images of the day revealed that the area of low pressure located about 1050 miles west-southwest of Kauai Hawaii has a well-defined low level circulation center. Given thunderstorms have been persistent with this feature, the Central Pacific Hurricane Center will likely be issuing advisories on tropical depression Three-C. This system has a near 100 percent chance of development during the next 48 hours.

2. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a surface trough about 750 miles southeast of the Big Island of Hawaii have become less organized overnight. Strong upper level winds are expected to prevent significant development within this area through Tuesday, but winds aloft may weaken by Wednesday. This system has a low chance, 10 percent, of becoming a tropical cyclone during the next 48 hours.

Elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through Wednesday afternoon.
