Weather radar data from the Molokai WSR-88D (Weather Surveillance Radar 88-Doppler) will not be available between August 29 and September 23, 2011. During this period, the supporting structure to the radar will be replaced due to extensive corrosion.
The WSR-88D has an operational range of 125 miles; thus the Molokai WSR-88D coverage includes both Honolulu and Maui Counties. The radar covers as far as the Kauai Channel and the Kohala and North Kona Districts of the Big Island.
We apologize for the inconvenience. We encourage you to contact the National Weather Service in Honolulu if you see severe weather in the making or already in progress.
