Offshore Waters Forecast for Hawaii

Hawaiian offshore waters beyond 40 nautical miles out to 240
nautical miles including the portion of the Papahanaumokuakea
Marine National Monument east of French Frigate Shoals

Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height
of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than
twice the significant wave height.

.Synopsis for the Hawaiian offshore waters...
An approaching front will bring an increase of southerly winds
today with gale force winds expected over the northern offshore
waters later tonight. The front will enter the far western waters
tonight, then move across the central waters Thursday night.
The front is expected to stall and dissipate near Maui County and
northeast waters on Friday. Another front approaches the islands
from the west late in the weekend.

23N W of 158W. Elsewhere N of 20N, S and SW winds 15 to 20 kt.
Rest of area, SE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 7 to 12 ft. Slight chance
of thunderstorms.
.THURSDAY...Front entering central waters and weakening. N of
23N, NW winds 20 to 30 kt W of front. Elsewhere N of 23N, SW winds
20 to 35 kt. Rest of area N of 20N, S and SW winds 15 to 25 kt.
Elsewhere, SE to S winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 7 to 13 ft, highest
northern waters. Slight chance of thunderstorms through the day.
.THURSDAY NIGHT...Weak dissipating front from 23n153w to Maui to
19n160W. W of front N to NE winds 15 to 20 kt. Area E of front N
of 19N, Variable winds to 15 kt. Elsewhere, E winds to 10 kt.
Seas 6 to 11 ft, highest northern waters. Slight chance of
thunderstorms.
.FRIDAY...Dissipating front from vicinity Maui and Big Island to
22N151W. Area between 19N and 22N E of 153W, Variable winds to 10
kt. Rest of area N of 19N, NE winds 10 to 20 kt. Rest of area,
E winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 6 to 10 ft. Slight chance of
thunderstorms far eastern waters.
.SATURDAY...Area W of 161W, SE winds 15 to 20 kt. Rest of area N
of 19N, E winds 15 to 20 kt. Remainder of area, E winds 15 to 25
