DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 AM HST (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Madeline was
located near latitude 16.5 North, longitude 157.6 West. Madeline is
moving toward the west near 13 mph (20 km/h) and this motion is
expected to continue over the next couple of days.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Madeline is
expected to become a tropical depression on Friday.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).

SURF: Swells and surf generated by Madeline will gradually diminish
