DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Darby
was located near latitude 22.4 North, longitude 160.6 West. The
depression is moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h) and this
general motion is expected to continue until dissipation occurs,
except for a gradual turn toward the northwest. 
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.
Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Darby is
expected to become a post-tropical low by Tuesday before dissipating
by Wednesday. 
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1011 mb (29.86 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

RAINFALL:  Although Darby is moving away from the Hawaiian Islands,
convergence bands well east and southeast of the poorly-defined
center will bring an additional 1 to 3 inches of rainfall to
portions of the Hawaiian Islands today, with locally higher amounts
possible.
