DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 pm HST, 0300 UTC, the center of tropical storm Ana was located near latitude 38.1 north, longitude 157.4 west. Ana is moving toward the northeast near 40 mph, 65 km/h. This motion will continue into Sunday, followed by a decrease in forward motion Sunday night and Monday as an extratropical Ana interacts with another deep low to the west.

Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph, 110 km/h, with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast, with Ana becoming a strong extratropical low tonight or Sunday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 150 miles, 240 km from the center. The area of tropical storm force winds will expand on Sunday as Ana becomes extratropical.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 986 mb, 29.12 inches.
