DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Ana was located near latitude 28.6 north, longitude 169.8 west. Ana is moving toward the north near 8 mph, 13 km/h. Ana is expected to begin moving faster toward the north later today. A rapid acceleration of Ana toward the northeast is expected starting tonight, and continuing through this weekend.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph, 95 km/h, with higher gusts. Some additional intensification is possible during the next two days.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles, 165 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb, 29.50 inches.
