A TROPICAL STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR:

PORTIONS OF THE PAPAHANAUMOKUAKEA MARINE NATIONAL MONUMENT, FROM
FRENCH FRIGATE SHOALS TO LISIANSKI.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE WARNING AREA WITHIN 36 HOURS.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Ana was located near latitude 26.6 north, longitude 168.9 west. Ana is moving toward the north-northwest near 14 mph, 22 km/h, and this motion is expected to become northerly through Friday morning, then northeasterly through Saturday morning.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph, 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast through Saturday morning.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles, 220 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb, 29.47 inches.

WIND

Tropical storm conditions are expected over gardner pinnacles and the maro reef area through this morning.

SURF

Large swells produced by Ana will continue across the northwest Hawaiian islands through this morning. Surf produced by these swells will be dangerous along reefs.

RAINFALL

Rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches are possible over the northwest Hawaiian islands near the center of Ana.
