DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Ana was located near latitude 13.4 north, longitude 143.3 west. Ana is moving toward the northwest near 5 mph, 7 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through early Thursday morning.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph, 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is expected through early Thursday morning.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 35 miles, 55 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb, 29.53 inches.
