DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 pm HST, 0900 UTC, the center of tropical storm Julio was located near latitude 32.4 north, longitude 157.3 west. Julio is moving toward the north-northeast near 5 mph, 7 km/h. Julio is expected to turn toward the north, then toward the northeast over the next 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph, 75 km/h, with higher gusts. Julio is forecast to weaken to a tropical depression by Friday morning and become a remnant low by Friday night.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles, 165 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb, 29.53 inches.
