DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 pm HST, 0300 UTC, the center of tropical storm Julio was located near latitude 32.1 north, longitude 157.6 west. Julio is moving toward the north-northeast near 5 mph, 7 km/h. A turn toward the north with little change in forward speed is expected over the next day or two.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph, 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Julio is forecast to become a remnant low over the north Pacific within the next 24 hours.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles, 165 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb, 29.36 inches.
