Tropical storm Julio weakening and moving slowly northeastward far north of Hawaii

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Julio was located near latitude 31.6 north, longitude 158.5 west. Julio is moving toward the northeast near 5 mph, 7 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through today. Julio will then begin to move slowly north late tonight through Friday and into Saturday morning.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph, 100 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast through Saturday morning.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles, 165 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 987 mb, 29.15 inches.
