Julio restrengthens into a hurricane as it continues moving northwestward far north of Hawaii

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 pm HST, 0300 UTC, the center of hurricane Julio was located near latitude 29.4 north, longitude 158.0 west. Julio is moving toward the northwest near 7 mph, 11 km/h. A gradual turn to the north will occur over the next 24 hours followed by a turn to the northeast on Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph, 120 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change is expected in the short term followed by weakening in the Wednesday and Thursday.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 10 miles, 20 km, from the center, and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 125 miles, 205 km.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 989 mb, 29.21 inches.
