Tropical storm Julio continues moving northwestward far north of Hawaii

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 am HST, 2100 UTC, the center of tropical storm Julio was located near latitude 28.8 north, longitude 157.5 west. Julio is moving toward the northwest near 6 mph, 9 km/h. This motion is expected to continue through Wednesday followed by a gradual turn toward the north on Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph, 100 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change is expected in the short term followed by slow weakening on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles, 165 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb, 29.39 inches.
