DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Julio was located near latitude 28.6 north, longitude 157.1 west. Julio is moving toward the northwest near 6 mph, 9 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours. A gradual turn to the north is expected between 24 and 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph, 100 km/h, with higher gusts. Slow weakening is forecast through 48 hours.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles, 165 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb, 29.36 inches.
