DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 pm HST, 0900 UTC, the center of tropical storm Julio was located near latitude 28.1 north, longitude 156.8 west. Julio is moving toward the northwest near 6 mph, 9 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours. A gradual turn to the north and then to the northeast is expected between 24 and 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph, 110 km/h, with higher gusts. Slow weakening is forecast through 48 hours.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 115 miles, 185 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 990 mb, 29.24 inches.
