AND KAHOOLAWE.

* KAUAI COUNTY INCLUDING THE ISLANDS OF KAUAI AND NIIHAU.

A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE
EXPECTED SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE WARNING AREA.

PRODUCTS ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE OFFICE IN
HONOLULU HAWAII.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 200 pm HST, 0000 UTC, the center of tropical storm Iselle was located near latitude 19.7 north, longitude 158.8 west. Iselle is moving toward the west near 18 mph, 30 km/h. This motion is expected to continue through early Sunday with some slowing in forward speed. The center of Iselle will pass about 130 miles south of Kauai this evening.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph, 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Some weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Iselle may weaken to a depression within a day or two.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 105 miles, 165 km from the center, mainly in gusts to the north and east of the center. Reports of downed trees and power lines were received from Kauai and Oahu around noon.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1009 mb, 29.80 inches.

HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

WIND

Damaging tropical storm force gusts are still occurring locally over the smaller islands. The strongest winds will be associated mainly with heavy showers, and where winds accelerate around terrain and downslope from mountains.

RAINFALL

Iselle could produce an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain.

SURF

Swells generated by Iselle are producing large mainly along east and south facing shores. The surf will continue to gradually diminish.
