At 1100 am HST, 2100 UTC, the center of hurricane Genevieve was located near latitude 13.5 north, longitude 178.4 west. Genevieve is moving toward the west-northwest near 18 mph, 30 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue for 36 hours followed by a turn toward the north by 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 85 mph, 140 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 60 miles, 95 km, from the center, and tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles, 220 km.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 980 mb, 28.94 inches.
