At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical depression Genevieve was located near latitude 11.1 north, longitude 171.1 west. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 14 mph, 22 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue today through Wednesday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast today through Wednesday, and Genevieve may become a tropical storm later today.
