At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical depression Genevieve was located near latitude 9.5 north, longitude 160.1 west. The depression is moving toward the west-southwest near 13 mph , 20 km/h, and this motion is expected to become westerly within 24 hours, then west northwesterly between 24 and 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 24 hours. Genevieve is forecast to strengthen to a tropical storm sometime between 24 and 48 hours.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1007 mb, 29.74 inches.
