At 500 pm HST, 0300 UTC, the center of tropical depression Genevieve was located near latitude 9.8 north, longitude 158.8 west. The depression is moving toward the west-southwest near 16 mph , 26 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, with a gradual turn toward the west-northwest in 36 to 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, 55 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast for the next 24 hours, with some slow strengthening possible thereafter.
