DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 am HST, 2100 UTC, the center of tropical storm Genevieve was located near latitude 10.6 north, longitude 157.8 west. Genevieve is moving toward the west-southwest near 16 mph, 26 km/h , and this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, with a gradual turn toward the west or west-northwest at around 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph, 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles, 110 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb, 29.68 inches.
