PRESENT MOVEMENT: W OR 280 DEGREES AT 14 MPH: 22 KM/H
MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE: 1005 MB or 29.68 INCHES

WATCHES AND WARNINGS

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.

DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 1100 am HST, 2100 UTC, the center of tropical storm Pewa was located near latitude 9.7 north, longitude 174.6 west. Pewa is moving toward the west near 14 mph, 22 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue over the next couple of days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph, 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 45 miles, 75 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb, 29.68 inches.
