DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Henriette was located near latitude 14.0 north, longitude 148.5 west. Henriette is moving toward the west-southwest near 20 mph, 32 km/h, and this general motion is expected to continue the next couple of days. On the forecast track, Henriette will pass well south of the main Hawaiian islands on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph, 85 km/h, with higher gusts. Slow weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Henriette is forecast to become a depression Sunday night.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 60 miles, 95 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb, 29.59 inches.
