DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Henriette was located near latitude 15.9 north, longitude 142.4 west. Henriette is moving toward the west-southwest near 13 mph, 20 km/h, and this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of days, with an increase in forward speed. On the forecast track, Henriette will pass well south of the main Hawaiian islands on Sunday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 70 mph, 110 km/h, with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours, with Henriette expected to weaken to a depression early Saturday.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 45 miles, 75 km from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb, 29.38 inches.
