At 500 am HST, 1500 UTC, the center of tropical storm Gil was located near latitude 13.2 north, longitude 141.9 west. Gil is moving toward the west near 9 mph, 15 km/h, and this motion is expected to persist through Thursday morning.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph, 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 40 miles from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb, 29.71 inches.
