At 1100 pm HST, 0900 UTC, the center of tropical storm Gil was located near latitude 13.3 north, longitude 141.0 west. Gil is moving toward the west near 9 mph, 15 km/h, and this motion is expected to continue through 48 hours.

Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph, 65 km/h, with higher gusts. Gradual strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 40 miles, 65 km, from the center.
