At 500 pm HST, 0300 UTC, the center of tropical storm Omeka was located near latitude 24.6 north, longitude 174.3 west. Omeka is moving toward the north-northeast near 20 mph and this motion is expected to continue over the next 24 to 36 hours. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph with higher gusts. Continued weakening is expected over the next 24 to 36 hours. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 50 miles from the center. Estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb, 29.68 inches. |

Omeka will not impact the main Hawaiian islands. Based on the current forecast track and intensity, Omeka will pass 10 to 15 miles east of lisianski island as a tropical depression tonight. Any interests on lisianski island and nearby islands or atolls should prepare for winds up to 35 mph with stronger gusts and intermittent heavy rain. |
