For the central north Pacific, between 140°W and 180.

1. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a low pressure area about 1580 miles east-southeast of the Hawaiian islands have become better organized this morning. Environmental conditions are conducive for further development, with a tropical depression expected to form later today or tonight as this system moves west- northwest near 15 mph. It is expected to cross 140 west longitude into the Central Pacific Hurricane Center area of responsibility Saturday evening.

Since this system is still east of 140°W, please refer to the tropical weather outlook issued by the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida, under AWIPS header MIATWOEP and WMO header abpz20 KNHC, for additional details.

* Formation chance through 48 hours, high, 90 percent elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through Saturday morning.
