For the central north Pacific, between 140°W and 180.

1. A poorly organized yet persistent area of weak low pressure located about 1200 miles southeast of Hilo is producing sporadic showers and thunderstorms. Upper level winds are not conducive for further development as the system tracks slowly toward the west.

* Formation chance through 48 hours, low, near 0 percent elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through early Wednesday.

Today marks the beginning of the official hurricane season in the central north Pacific. The tropical weather outlook indicates the potential for future tropical cyclone development and/or current tropical cyclone activity in the Central Pacific Hurricane Center area of responsibility.

The names to be used in the central north Pacific in 2015 are as follows: name pronunciation ----------------------------- Ela eh-lah Halola hah-loh-lah Iune ee-oo-neh Kilo kee-lo Loke loh-keh Malia mah-lee-ah Niala nee-ah-la this outlook will be routinely issued four times per day at 200 am, 800 am, 200 pm and 800 pm Hawaii standard time from today through the end of the hurricane season on November 30 2015. A special tropical weather outlook will be issued to provide updates, as necessary, in between the regularly scheduled issuances of the tropical weather outlook. Special tropical weather outlooks will be issued under the same WMO and AWIPS headers as the regularly scheduled tropical weather outlooks.
