For the central north Pacific, between 140°W and 180.

1. Disorganized showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure located about 720 miles south southeast of South Point on the Big Island of Hawaii have changed little during the past several hours. Environmental conditions appear to be somewhat conducive for slow development of this system as it continues to move westward at 10 to 15 mph this weekend.

* Formation chance through 48 hours, medium, 30 percent.

2. The National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida is issuing advisories on tropical storm Genevieve, located about 1390 miles east southeast of Hilo, Hawaii. Genevieve is moving westward at about 5 mph, and based on the latest forecast it is expected to cross longitude 140°W into the area of responsibility of the Central Pacific Hurricane Center late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Elsewhere, no tropical cyclones are expected through Sunday evening.
